The rectangular saddle ring packed bed layer has a large void ratio. The bed layer mainly consists of arc-shaped liquid channels, which reduces the resistance of gas passing through the bed layer and also decreases the radial diffusion coefficient of liquid flowing downward. The shape of the ceramic rectangular saddle ring is between the circular and saddle shapes, thus combining the advantages of both. This structure is conducive to liquid distribution and increasing the gas channels. The ceramic rectangular saddle ring has high density and excellent acid and heat resistance. It can also resist various inorganic acids, organic acids and organic solvents except hydrofluoric acid.

The rectangular saddle ring is mainly used for the following purposes:
Distillation process: In distillation towers used in industries such as petroleum refining and chemical product production, the saddle ring can provide a large area for gas-liquid mass transfer, enabling different components in the mixed liquid to undergo sufficient mass transfer between the gas and liquid phases. This allows for efficient separation of each component and the production of high-purity products.
Absorption process: It is used in fields such as gas purification and waste gas treatment. For example, in the process of sulfur dioxide removal from flue gas, the saddle ring can increase the contact area between gas and liquid, allowing the flue gas containing sulfur dioxide to fully contact with the absorption liquid, thereby improving the absorption efficiency of sulfur dioxide and achieving the goal of purifying the flue gas.
